Farm and KidsFit to Families Fresh
seasonal farm boxes for families with school aged children, a partnership with RWJBH’s KidsFit curriculum, and with the Healthy Food in Newark Schools Coalition
2022-23: 225 families served for 10 weeks each
2023-24: 660 families served for 10 weeks each
2024-2025: 1000 families served for 10 weeks
MEND Boxes
Fresh seasonal farm boxes delivered to selected home participants via our partner Meeting Essential Needs with Dignity NJ (MEND NJ), delivered last mile with support from Amazon drivers, and now funded by LFPA federal dollars administered through the Community Food Bank of NJ (CFBNJ)
Program has grown slowly but steadily since inception in 2021, non-stop
Today includes over 200 families on bi-weekly delivery cycles
Urban Agriculture & Food as Medicine
Inclusive Farmer’s Markets
Technical Assistance/ pop-up retail Strategic farmer’s markets support (and sometimes vending) for community partners that are making long-term commitments and scaling good food distribution serving their Newark area low-to-moderate income populations. Partners include East Orange City, Newark Beth Israel, Clinton Hill Community Action, La Casa De Don Pedro, Newark Public Library, Audible, Greater Newark Conservancy, and more.
Markets focused on SNAP, WIC and Senior Vouchers redemption
Include products from urban, new, and established rural farmers and makers
Supported by chefs, dieticians, community organizations and health institutions
In 2024, Enabled over 400 SNAP customers and 300 FMNP customers with healthy purchasing, equalling an estimated $16,000 in sales from just federal benefits alone (not cash or credit card).
Wholesale Broker B to B
Wholesale brokerage from NJ Farms to small and mid-level business/ non-profit partners seeking fresh good foods. These now include 10 different non-profit partners in the Newark area, 4 Federally Qualified Health Centers, and a new Food as Medicine research pilot project with Ethos Farm and Rutgers.
